Solid-Core Door Designer - Outside view

To change your chosen overall size just return back
To choose a different door/window just return to the home page.
Important!
Extenders do not add to the overall width/height of door frames.
By choosing extenders the frame will be made slightly smaller, in order to keep the overall width/height including the extender the same as your measurements.
Alternatively, if you wish to add an extender in addition to the overall width/height you measured, please choose the extender and leave a note at checkout.
Please choose any extenders for the sides of your door frame:

Frame colours

Door frames are made of UPVC and are available in flat white or in woodgrain effect foiled colours.

You can have white on the inside, or the same colour as on the outside in most colours.

Frames are sculptured, similar to our own UPVC products.

Please note: Anthracite-grey matt-smooth frames are not in stock, please allow an extra month for delivery.

Please note: Frames in Anthracite-grey on both sides will have white edging visible only when the door is open. If you prefer black edging just leave a note at checkout, but please allow an extra month for delivery.

Disclaimer: We cannot guarantee to match existing colours. If you need a colour match, please email us with your address and ask for a sample of the colour you need.

Door colours

An extensive range of door slab colours.

New inside colours: Now all the outside colours are also available on the inside of the door slab, independently of the outside colour.

If you need even more colours, we can supply these door slabs in a RAL colour of your choice, please contact us with a link of your chosen door for a quote.

Disclaimer: We cannot guarantee to match existing colours. If you need a colour match, please email us with your address and ask for a sample of the colour you need.

Door Glazing

A vast range of beautiful glazing units, from simple obscure glass, coloured diamonds, traditional bevels to intricate triple glazed units with unique obscure designs.

Handles

A vast range of handles and escutcheons in up to 8 colours, and many bars and knobs in stainless steel.

For bar handles, knobs and escutcheons as there is no internal handle, a cylinder lock with a thumb-turn is recommended so you can quickly open the door without needing the key.

Knobs are supplied loose to fit where you prefer.

External cill

Most doors require an external cill to drain water away correctly. If you already have a stone or tiled cill as part of the building you may not require a cill.

Your door will be manufactured to the sizes given including whichever cill and threshold is chosen.
For example at an order height of 2100mm with a cill, the actual door will be 2070 + 30mm for the cill.

The cill width will be 100mm wider than the left to right width of the door, so 50mm cill "horn" on each side.

The cill depths are 85mm stub, 150mm normal that covers most situations, or 180mm long.

Please note: The cill height is 30mm and if a cill is chosen then these 30mm will be included within the overall height of the door.
For more advice please contact us.

Side window cill

Most windows require an external cill to drain water away correctly. If you already have a stone or tiled cill as part of the building you may not require a cill.

The cill depths are 85mm stub, 150mm normal that covers most situations, or 180mm long.

Please note: The cill height is 30mm and if a cill is chosen then these 30mm will be included within the overall height of the side window.
For more advice please contact us.

Laminated glass

All double composite doors come with high security as standard, with a Winkhaus FGTE lock and a choice of Kite Marked cylinders.

With Laminated glass both the glazing units on the doors and any side and top units will be laminated.

Laminated is our strongest glass, similar to a car's windscreen, has a laminated layer that keeps the glass together when broken, making it very difficult to break into. The outer side has 6.8mm laminated, the inner has 4mm toughened glass.

Open inside/outside

Open in: Typically doors open inwards into a building. The hinges have a good clearance of 48mm, so usually no side extender is needed.

Open out: Good for back doors to save internal space. The hinges are on the outside.

The distance from the hinge to the edge of the outer frame is 48mm:

Adjustable hinges

The hinges are Face Fix slimline heavy duty for ease of installation. These hinges automatically set the correct compression so no need for adjustment. They allow adjustment to be made horizontally and vertically to +/- 2.5mm.
Easily removable cover.

Hinges can be at the left or right side of the door. The handle is always at the opposite side.

In the case of a door with an additional side panel, we would recommend that the hinge be placed on the wall side.

The distance from the hinge to the edge of the outer frame is 48mm.

Frame extenders

A frame extender increases the thickness of a door frame at a specified side. Great for properties with deep plaster, render or tiles over tiles.

Some fitters buy extenders as a precaution, for example where the door opening has not been built yet. Extenders can be modified to accomodate inconsistent side walls.

Extenders simply clip or slide on the door profile as you can see on the picture.

Please note: extenders for these doors are 10mm wide, so a 20mm extender is comprised of 2 x 10mm.

Example of 20mm extender sliding

Thresholds

Your door will be manufactured to the sizes given including whichever cill and threshold is chosen.

Full UPVC threshold Normal threshold
Normal UPVC threshold 57 to 77mm high (not including any optional cill), with the benefit of a better seal and insulation.

Master / slave doors

You can choose to have either side as the main opening door (master door).

The master door must be opened first before the second (slave) door is able to open. Usually people just open only the master door.

Please note Left or Right as viewed from the outside.

Opening example, master opens first,
with handles on both doors
