An all aluminium astonishingly beautiful roof lantern, a successful blend of contemporary, yet classic design with cutting edge engineering. Strongest and most thermally efficient in its class, yet quick and simple to install.
Multiple configurations
All lantern roofs are bespoke and made to order to your exact specifications, up to a massive 6 x 4 metres external size. The pitch is fixed at 24° degrees.
Now with ultra-slim aluminium rafters and spars, echoing traditional timber but with some of the narrowest internal sightlines available. Seamless joints, no visible fixings, and patent-pending die-cast ridge and spar end bosses keep all fittings hidden for a clean, uninterrupted view.
Fully integrated LED lighting
The Korniche roof lantern is a striking focal point by day, and with integrated lighting it remains a feature after dark.
Discreet uplighting that highlights the lantern frame and transforms the room after dark. Depending on the lantern perimeter, one or two 10 metre prewired IP54 strips will be provided on a reel. In warm white 3000K colour. A matched IP20 LED driver is included. Remote control and wall switch not included.
Easy installation: Adhesive-backed strips, pre-drilled roof for cable routing, with installation guide and diffusing lens supplied.
Professional finish: The lens hides the strip when off and diffuses the light when on, creating a clean, even glow.
The upstand is a ready-made base that the roof lantern sits on. It replaces a site-built timber curb, providing a rigid, watertight platform that’s made to the exact order size.
It uses 75mm SIPs (insulated panels with an EPS foam core between OSB skins) for strength and good insulation. Building Regulations require the top of the upstand to finish at least 150mm above the finished roof surface.
Choose height based on your roof build-up:
Cold roof (150 mm tall): for when insulation sits at ceiling level and the roof void is ventilated.
Warm roof (300mm tall): for when insulation extends to rooflight (above rafters). Warm roofs require extra upstand for continuous insulation and proper flashing.
If firrings/packers are used, select an upstand 50mm taller (so 200mm or 350mm) to ensure the lantern sits above the tiles.
Waterproofing is assumed to be 5 mm thick. If your membrane differs, leave a note at checkout with its thickness so the upstand can be adjusted. Always confirm the final roof build-up so the upstand remains at least 150 mm above the finished roof level. See the upstand surveying guide for more details.
Independently tested to resist forced entry. The re-engineered design features:
Re-designed bespoke gasket systems for total closure, reducing points that could be prised.
Anti-deglazing measures that prevent removal of beads/glass from outside.
Thermal performance
Thermally broken frame: aluminium profiles are fully isolated by a polymer core to stop cold-bridging.
Advanced glass coatings: low-E, argon-filled units (with warm-edge spacers and optional solar control) cut heat loss while keeping glare/UV down.
Tight seals: continuous gaskets and insulated fixings reduce drafts and condensation risk.
Thermal continuity at the base: the optional SIPs upstand keeps insulation unbroken around the opening, avoiding cold spots.
Fast installation
Quick and easy to install, 4 times faster, due to pre-drilled eves beams, all-in-one glazing retainers, one bolt spars and clip fit top & end caps.
Please see the Korniche installation manual for details.
Self-cleaning glazing
To help clean the outside glazing, we offer several types of Pilkington Self-Cleaning glass (video)
at low u-ratings at various degrees of reflecting solar heat, certified to EN 1096-5, the new European Standard for self-cleaning glass.
See the Glass brochure for more.
Strong
Every component has been meticulously optimized to create the stiffest and strongest roof lantern assembly on the market. Unparalleled strength, Korniche is capable of supporting loads of up to 3.5kN/m2 to withstand the worst of the UK weather.
Glazing performance
All double glazed units are 28mm, argon gas filled sealed with sleek warm edge spacer bar. If the position of the roof lantern is south facing with direct sun, consider a glass type with a higher percentage of solar heat reflection and lower light transmission percentage to reduce solar gain.
The U Value is the rate at which heat is conducted across an insulated glass unit. The lower a number, the better a glass
unit is at resisting heat transfer.
Award winning
Since Korniche was launched it has won several awards.

Colour matching
Please note we cannot guarantee exact colour matches with our UPVC windows/doors, even with matching RAL numbers, due to the different materials and methods used.
