Frame colours

Door frames are made of UPVC and are available in flat white or in woodgrain effect colours.

Frames are usualy white on the inside, although the colours Light-oak, Mahogany and Rosewood can be selected on both sides.

Disclaimer: We cannot guarantee to match existing colours. If you need a colour match, please email us with your address and ask for a sample of the colour you need.

External cill

Most doors require an external cill to drain water away correctly. If you already have a stone or tiled cill as part of the building you may not require a cill.

Your door will be manufactured to the sizes given including whichever cill and threshold is chosen.
For example at an order height of 2100mm with a cill, the actual door will be 2070 + 30mm for the cill.

The cill width is no wider than the left to right width of the door.

85mm stub cill
This cill only protrudes from the external door face by 15mm.

150mm normal cill
Our most common cill size covers most situations. Protrudes from the external door face by 80mm. Recommended.

Please note: The cill height is 30mm and if a cill is chosen then these 30mm will be included within the overall height of the door.
For more advice please contact us.

Side window cill

Most windows require an external cill to drain water away correctly. If you already have a stone or tiled cill as part of the building you may not require a cill.

85mm stub cill
This cill only protrudes from the external window face by 15mm.

150mm normal cill
Most common cill size covers most situations. Protrudes from the external window face by 80mm. Recommended.

Please note: The cill height is 30mm and if a cill is chosen then these 30mm will be included within the overall height of the side window.

Open inside/outside

Open in: Typically doors open inwards into a building. The hinges have a great clearance, so usually no side extender is needed.

Open out: All open out doors are fitted with a 90 degree restrictor arm as standard to stop the door opening more than 90 degrees. The hinges are on the outside.

The distance from the hinge to the edge of the outer frame is 45mm:

Hinges Left/Right

We supply the high quality Nico adjustable hinge as standard.

Hinges can be at the left or right side of the door. The handle is always at the opposite side.

In the case of a door with an additional side panel, we would recommend that the hinge be placed on the wall side.

The distance from the hinge to the edge of the outer frame is 45mm:

Frame extenders

A frame extender increases the thickness of a door frame at a specified side. Great for properties with deep plaster, render or tiles over tiles.

Some fitters buy extenders as a precaution, for example where the door opening has not been built yet. Extenders can be modified to accomodate inconsistent side walls.

Extenders simply clip or slide on the door profile as you can see on the picture.

Example of 20mm extender sliding

Thresholds

Your door will be manufactured to the sizes given including whichever cill and threshold is chosen.

Normal threshold:
The normal UPVC threshold is 53 to 72mm high (not including the optional cill), with the benefit of a better seal and insulation.

Half threshold:
Still a UPVC threshold but only 30 to 49mm high. Cill optional.

Low wheelchair:
Very low aluminium threshold 6.8 to 15mm tall. Part M. Cill optional.

Integrated cill MDS25:
Low aluminium threshold in the frame colour, 14 to 25mm high with built-in cill. Part M wheelchair compliant, with EPDM rubber seals for a robust solution that lasts. Improved weather performance and superior thermal efficiency.

Note: On inward opening doors, please make sure there is sufficient clearance between the bottom of the door and the floor inside.

Letterbox

The "normal" letterbox style will change depending on the handle family you have chosen.
Possible handle/letterbox families are Sweet, Avocet, Fab n Fix, Stainless and Knob/Bar (chosen at the handle button).

Letterboxes open to 180 degrees and even the return spring is stainless steel which was cycle tested to 100,000 operations. The external flap houses a peripheral seal that also forms a full thermal and acoustic barrier.

The "normal" letterbox has the same colour as the door handle.

PAS24 and Secured By Design accreditations require a different "Secure" letterbox. This secure letterbox is only 1 type and does not match the handle family.

Knockers

The knocker's style will change depending on the handle family you have chosen.
Possible handle/knocker families are Sweet, Avocet, Fab n Fix and Stainless (chosen at the handle button).
Knob and Bar handles use Ingot or Bar knockers. The Conexis handle uses the Sweet knocker.

Knockers are matched to your handle colour.
