Internal magnetic corded blinds

This blind works with a rotational cord winder attached at the top of the room-facing pane of the double-glazed unit. A continuous cord loop drives the internal magnet, which controls the raising, lowering and tilting of the slats. The cord is held lightly under tension by a cord tensioner.

Corded integral blinds

    Benefits include:
  • Patented magnetic system with manual operation.
  • No left/right rails, more light.
  • Larger glass sizes possible.
  • Ideal solution for conservatory shading.
  • The slats are always clean!

Internal Venetian Uni-Blinds with ingenious control for all the blind functions in one easy to use slider.

The blind is encapsulated within the two glass panes of a double glazed unit, therefore no cords are present and virtually no cleaning is needed.

The thermal efficiency is optimised thanks to a warm edge spacer bar as standard.

How to operate
Operated by a single cleverly designed magnetic slider, at the side of the glass. A narrow rail ensures the linear movement of the slider. The blind is raised and lowered by moving the slider up or down and is tilted by slightly lifting or lowering the same slider.

Internal Venetian Uni-Blinds controlled easily by use of a rotational cord winder. The blind is encapsulated within the two glass panes of a double glazed unit, therefore no cleaning of the slats is needed.

The thermal efficiency is optimised thanks to a warm edge spacer bar as standard.

How to operate
A rotational cord winder at the top of the inside pane, along with a continuous cord loop and tensioner, controls the raising, lowering, and tilting of the blinds. Pulling the cord up or down lifts or lowers the blinds, and a slight movement of the same cord controls the tilt function.

Pole eyes

Allow the use of a pole (not supplied) to help open and close the top sash of any sliding windows that are just too high to reach by hand.

Manufactured from solid die cast zinc with a resilient surface finish and an sculptured ergonomic design.

For windows less than 1000mm in width, 1 pole eye will be supplied loose. For over 1000mm width, 2 loose pole eyes will be supplied. They can be fitted wherever you prefer on the top rail of the top sash.

Slim midrail

The slim midrail is more than 10mm slimmer than its standard counterpart, it’s considered more authentic, matching the midrail on traditional Victorian sash windows.

  • Authentic appearance.
  • Ideal for conservation areas.
  • Perfect timber alternative.
  • Sleek streamlined profile.
  • Elegant sight lines.

Travel restrictors

Discretely routed on the sides of the top sash the restrictors limit the opening of the sash for child safety, preventing the travel of the sash beyond about 10cm. To comply with building codes, a restrictor is fitted to both sides of the sash. It's easy to retract the restrictors allowing the sashes to slide open fully.

These restrictors are keyless, so can be used for fire-exits.

Free upgrade to PAS24!

We now offer a free upgrade to PAS24 on all our Standard, Flush, Tilt & Turn and French windows.

Product Assessment Specification (PAS) 24, is a security standard for windows and doors, to ensure they can resist a certain level of attack from an opportunistic burglar.

PAS 24 (or equivalent standards) is required to meet Building Regulations Part Q for new build properties and extensions.

To comply with PAS24, laminated glass must be fitted to all easily accessible doors, door side panels and windows that are adjacent to a door.

For more please see our leaflet.

D-handles

An optional handle fitted at the outside of the sash window at the underside of the top sash, used for pulling the top sash down, once access is gained by tilting the lower sash inwards.

One D-handle is fitted centrally for windows under 1200mm wide, and two spaced equally for windows wider than 1200mm.

D-handles will be the same colour as chosen for the locks.

Bottom Rail

These sash windows can come with a normal bottom rail, or a "deep" bottom rail to mimic the timber sash window look as much as possible.
If you prefer the look of an original timber window the deep bottom rail is a great option to imitate the appearance of the timber sash windows of old.

Hardware

Hardware range and locations:

Locks: engineered for strength and premium security for vertical sliding windows. Simply turn the lever or the key to release the cam from its keep. With colour coordinated screws. In standard or heritage form. With or without a key.

Knobs: made of a solid die cast zinc construction. Used to tilt the bottom sash. In standard or heritage form.

Fire escape

Windows for fire escapes must provide an unobstructed opening of at least 0.33m².

An improved mechanism for slightly wider opening of the sash window.

Fire escape windows should not have a lock on them.

Habitable rooms require fire escapes, Building regs.

Corner options

Standard welds: typical 45° mitre weld finish. The ends of the frames are cut diagonally at 45° so they come together in a 90° angle.

Seamless Welds: the ends of the frames are cut diagonally at 45° like a standard weld, but cutting-edge machinery achieves a smooth finish with an almost invisible joint. Only available with woodgrain colours on both sides.

Mechanical Joints: both frame ends are joined at 90°, replicating the handcrafted appearance of the original corner joints of traditional timber windows. Only available with woodgrain colours on both sides.

Sash horns

Enhance your window by choosing fantastic run-through horns. These horns are mechanically jointed to allow the horn to be a continuous part of the sash.
These run-through horns are a great option to replicate the original style of the traditional timber sash windows.

Weather bar

Optionally an innovative ovolo shaped weather bar that not only offers authentic period aesthetics but also adds another level of defence against rain and wind.

PAS 24 security

Enhanced security PAS 24:2016 security standard that can only be achieved once a product has been tested to demonstrate enhanced protection against various types of attack. Intended to resist the levels and methods of attack experienced in Britain.

Building Regulations compliant, if laminated/acoustic glazing has been chosen for easily accessible windows.

Choosing PAS 24 will add premium locks, top sash security blocks, upgraded latches and keep.

Trickle vent

Vents are placed at the top of the top sash to allow limited airflow without having to open the window. They help to control outside air flow reducing condensation and mould.

The vent comes with a flap that can be opened and closed.

Available in smooth and woodgrain finishes colour-matched to the sash frame.

Please take care not to damage the vent when sliding the lower sash up.

Vents are important to help with compliance with the new Part F regulations.

The glass unit is made of a 6.8mm acoustic laminated outer pane, a 18mm Superspacer void and a 4mm inner KS toughened pane.

Being laminated it is also very secure and difficult to break into.

The u-value is 1.2, the same as our superb A+ rated double glazing.

Glass safety

We supply 3 strengths of glass:

Standard: Normal glass, which is dangerous when broken as it breaks in large sharp pieces.

Toughened: Specially treated to increase its strength and safety.
If broken, toughened glass breaks into many small pieces therefore it's less likely to cause injury.

Laminated: Our strongest glass, similar to a car's windscreen, has a laminated layer that keeps the glass together when broken, making it very difficult to break into. Outer side 6.8mm laminated, inner 4mm toughened.
Not with triple or acoustic glazing.

Windows near floors & doors require Toughened glass, Building Regulations.

Handle colours

All our handles have secure key locking. 1 handle per opener.

To add openers to your window use the blue icon on each pane.

Handles are supplied in white, chrome, brass/gold, satin silver and black.Traditional cast iron style antique black Monkey tail and Tear drop are also available.

Our window handles

External cill

Most bay windows require an external cill to drain water away correctly. If you already have a stone or tiled cill as part of the building you may not require a cill.

As standard our cills are 100mm wider than the bay window, projecting 50mm on each side.

95mm stub cill
Our shortest cill, protrudes by 25mm.

150mm normal cill
Our most common cill, recommended for most situations.

180mm long cill
For windows that are set further back into the brickwork.

Please note: The cill height is 30mm and if a cill is chosen then these 30mm will be included within the overall height of the bay window.
For more advice please contact us.

Child restrictor

This essential child safety device is designed to limit the opening to approximately 100mm (4 inches). It can be released to facilitate full opening of the window.

We recommend that these are used for openers larger than 550mm.

Please note: child restrictors will be sent separately.

Fixing kit

Contains approximately 40 assorted packers of various thicknesses (1 to 4mm) ideal for aligning and fitting the frame and glass units (toe and heeling).

Also approximately 12 concrete countersunk screws 7.5 x 120mm.
Ideal for fixing into concrete, brick, stone, concrete block and wood.

These screws do not require wall plugs. How to video on Youtube.

Frame extenders

A frame extender allows to increase the thickness of a window at a specified side. On bays extenders are added at the top/bottom/left/right of the whole bay.

Great for properties with deep plaster, render or tiles over tiles. 25mm or 40mm extensions available.

Some fitters buy extenders as a precaution, for example where the window opening has not been built yet. Extenders can be modified to accomodate inconsistent side walls.

Extenders simply clip or slide on the window profile as you can see the picture.

Important: The thickness of any chosen extenders is included in the chosen window width/height.
